Constant Innovation for an Evolvoing Battlefield

At Patriot Products, continuous improvement is a commitment that extends beyond delivery. We are constantly working to refine currently fielded products, keeping our focus on their relevance to the training environments they support. Our goal is to help customers maintain confidence in the equipment they use today while preparing for the demands of tomorrow.

That same commitment drives the development of new projects. For Patriot Products, innovation means more than introducing something new, it means continually developing and improving solutions with a clear training purpose. By balancing enhancements to existing products with forward-looking development, we aim to support changing requirements without losing sight of the needs those products are designed to serve.

Today’s evolving battlefields demand an equally adaptable approach to training. Patriot Products remains focused on helping customers maintain training dominance through the continued advancement of both fielded products and new initiatives. Our commitment is to keep improving, keep developing, and keep training readiness at the center of our work.

Remote Controlled Moving Engagement Target (RMET)

The next generation of Remote-Controlled Moving Engagement Targets is taking shape. Patriot Products is developing the fully redesigned RMET-15 multi-platform unit, a third-generation robotic target system. Development goals include 360° zero-turn-radius maneuverability, Hot Swap battery compartments, and a new Quick Plate “Robot As A Platform” swappable deck. Planned hit-detection technology would bring the robot to a complete stop upon detecting a hit, followed by a programmable pause and timed automatic restart, making the response easily discernible from a distance. The capabilities and performance specifications below are development targets, not confirmed features, and remain subject to testing, validation, and change.

  • Planned 1:1 remote-control operation, with a target range of up to 1,000 m.
  • Target adjustable speed range of 0–10 mph, with walk, jog, and run modes.
  • Planned 24V deep-cycle batteries with smart charging technology, targeting up to 21 miles per charge.
  • Proposed remote-control case designed to meet an IP63 rating.
  • Planned weather-resistant chassis, with the goal of enabling travel through standing water.
  • Proposed armor targeting ballistic protection up to 7.62, subject to testing and validation.
  • Planned Hot Swap battery compartments and Quick Plate swappable deck.
  • Proposed four-wheel direct drive with run-flat tires.
  • Target towing capacity of 6,900+ lbs and payload capacity of 800+ lbs.
  • “Robot As A Platform” options under consideration include role-player, breacher, sniper target, payload transport, HFS integration, and conversion of any SIT into an MIT.

Wireless Launching System for “Smokey Sam”

Patriot Products designed a remote firing system for Smokey SAM (GTR-18A), a surface-to-air missile threat simulator created by the Naval Weapons Center in the 1980s. The system makes training safer, more efficient, and easier to scale.

Conventional launchers require several personnel nearby, increasing safety risks and staffing needs while restricting the size and complexity of training exercises.

Patriot Products’ system integrates scalable wireless control and operational safeguards for more efficient training.

Connected launchers and built-in GPS enable scalable operations and real-time situational awareness. Remote control reduces staffing needs and personnel exposure near launchers, while scripted scenarios and less detectable operation enhance training realism and effectiveness. Together, these capabilities will modernize Smokey SAM through safer operation, fewer personnel requirements, and flexible wireless control.
