All of our bullet traps incorporate modular design, with removable components to enable effective inspection, and/or eventual replacement. Additionally, we offer larger units configured as a modular mobile, two lane ballistic containment and bullet trap, and a modular multi-lane range butts and bullet trap. Both designs are based on ISO containers modified to purpose, prefabricated at our factory and joined on site (at time of delivery).
Our first modular bullet trap was designed and delivered as an improvement for our local Sheriff’s Dept outdoor training range. The Sheriff’s Dept was concerned with the difficulty and cost of maintaining the earthen berm as a butt-stop as well as the potential for any round escape to affect future development around the site (residential encroachment). Appreciating our customer’s concerns, Patriot proposed a modular solution, that could be implemented quickly and required minimal changes to the existing earthen works. The 60ft wide, two module Vulcanized Rubber faced steel bullet trap with integral overhead re-directive guard provides a range butts and target area that is impervious to weather, fully contains rifle and handgun rounds with no ricochet potential and enables better stewardship practices, including containing the spent bullets and fragments and isolating lead from the environment, particularly ground water.
